A Trip to the NC Zoo
Only A Short Drive From the Triangle
Even as a grownup a trip to the zoo is enjoyable and brings out the kid in us! And what a better way to spend the day then at the North Carolina zoo in Asheboro! I have visited a lot of zoo’s, in a lot of different states, but must say that this zoo is one of my favorites! The rolling hills, tree covered walks, landscape, habitats, and boulders; there is so much to take in!
Though, I personally love to watch the polar bear; he can be very entertaining but the thought of a party sounds like fun!!
On August 3rd, the zoo will be celebrating the 1st Birthday of Bomassa and Apollo! The cute baby gorilla’s... According to their website the day’s activities will unfold as follows:
All activities are at Forest Glade gorilla exhibit.
9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Special music performed by "The Healing Force"
9:30-10:30 a.m. - Gorillas will receive birthday ice cakes
11:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. - See the gorilla feedings, Meet the Keepers and receive a special treat as our guests!
2:30 p.m. - Help us sing "Happy Birthday" while the gorillas get their birthday presents!
Make sure you plan on spending the day. Pack a lunch, and take it into the park with you. By the time you get to the back of the park, everyone will be hungry, so relax on a shaded bench, and enjoy your yummy sandwich…
After you relax and enjoy your lunch, it is time to finish the zoo and the best part, after seeing all the wonderful animals and the landscape, there is a tram to carry you back to where you started…your feet will thank you!!
I really suggest you check out their website for special events, camps, and so much more!
Enjoy your day and don’t forget lots of water!!
